Come July, and true-blue Jawa/Yezdi aficionados roll up their sleeves and get their hands greasy, coaxing and readying their steeds for show day! And, to every biker brother, the roaring thunder these metals throw is pure music to the ears. I was lucky and proud to participate in one such event - The International Jawa CZ Yezdi day 2014 held at Shalini Grounds, Jayanagar!
As the sun began its journey across the sky on a foggy, nippy morning, my teammates and I rode bikes to the event site. If the weather sent chills up our spine, the roar of our metals sent thrills up it - a feeling that cannot be described, only experienced!
As we parked our metals in their respective categories, we couldn't help ourselves from turning our heads in all directions, for, so many of these beauties started showing up from everywhere, carefully manouvered and 'shown-off' to onlookers & biker brothers.
The shine off the chrome lining and the striking palette of colors of these classics was an astounding sight, an overwhelming, heavenly experience. I felt I had come home! And the assembling - category-wise - mesmerised me, leaving my jaws literally open! Soon, I managed to convince myself at took my first step ahead. I had my share of satisfaction, I had my day made, I was in the middle of my dream-come-real!
The event started off with registration and refreshments, and two camps set-up for blood donation organised by Jayanagar Volunteer's Blood Bank and a free health check-up from Magnus Diagnostic Centre. The gathering was so huge that my heart filled with joy and gratitude toward everyone assembled there supporting this noble cause. In a heart-warming gesture, Mr. Jayaprakash presented the kids invited from Samarthana School for Disabled, a whole lot of goodies and donations from my fellow bikers.
Later on, the masters - the mechanical wizards who have continued to help us keep these vintage beauties alive and running - were honoured by H M Krishna Murthy and by the counselor Mr. B. Somashekhar.
Over 17 masters, 40 blood donors and 480 biker brothers made this event a real success, at the end of which we revved up our beasts and headed our separate ways, but with a song on our lips and warm content hearts, hoping to meet again soon!
