9th International JAWA-CZ YEZDI DAY - 2011

Yet another successful Jawa Day celebration was observed here in Corporation Grounds, Shivajinagar, Bangalore on 10th of July, 2011. Being a proud owner of a Classic bike "Yezdi Roadking", I felt the Adrenaline rush yesterday when I saw these metal beasts revv up on the grounds. The moment I entered in the the premises on my white Roadking, I was welcomed with a warm smile from a fellow enthusiast guiding the way to park these beauties in classes. There were 3 categories. The typical JAWAs, the one of it's kind "Classic/CLIIs" and the "Roadkings". There was another classification of special bikes which were limited editions from the manufacturer.

With over 450 participants, The Function started off with an announcement for breakfast being served. Later, There was another announcement to gather near the dias as the guests were being honored.

The invitees included Mr. Venkatesh accompanied with Mr. Krishnaiah, employees at YEZDI and Mr. Rajan, the GP rider, Mr. Iqbal, the Godfather for (almost) all mechanics accompanied with Mr. Subhan Sheriff, another teacher for regional mechanics, Mr. Jedarahalli Krishnappa, a cine field celebrity & an owner of a rare 81 model Yezdi Roadking, Mr. Dorai, a Senior Mechanic.

Mr. Venkatesh, Who was in R&D section of the YEZDIs, in his speech said, "The factory was launched in 1961 & I joined this factory in 1965 as a helper boy. Later with the company, I too grew to become a supervisor in R&D department when it was shutdown. YEZDIs were then sold at Rs. 1500, 250CCs were sold at Rs. 2250 when they were the only models from the manufacturers and Later when Roadkings were launchesd, they were sold at Rs. 10,000 which was paid in dollars." He also said "there is nothing that can even come close to a Yezdi".

Mr. Krishnaiah, though didn't speak, Mr. Amrit did mention about his achievement. He was one among the 5 riders selected for R&Ds on a Yezdi Colt, a 60cc moped and one among the two riders who were summoned to ride this moped all the way up to Mumbai (formerly Bombay) and back. His dedication here is worth a mention.

Mr Iqbal, spoke to the gathered crowd saying he is content at his heart for being a little help to all those mechanics who learnt from him. He said "It is the name that stays after us. Iam proud to be a part of this event. Long Live JAWA".

Mr. Rajan, A former Rally Rider, did mention about his winnings in a GP on his very own Yezdi. He too was all excited to be a part & portion of the "JAWA FAMILY".

Mr. Dorai & Mr. Subhan Sheriff, were also honored on the dias for their contribution in keeping these beasts alive & revving on the roads burning rubber.

Mr. Jedarahalli Krishnappa, speaking to the crowd said "Iam very happy to be present here today in this event. This day reminds us of our old. We are not supposed to forget the past that made us. Keeping those old memories alive & nourishing them to stay alive is definitely worth an applaud. I whole heartily appreciate the initiative taken by the team here for their effort in bringing back liveliness to these vintage/classic beauties. I too own a Roadking and am proud".

The event had 2 routes. One was a short trip to A classic Bikes Collection show in Frazer town and the other one was a long ride to Kamat's on Kolar Road.

The event was called off after a short break with enthusiast riders riding off on a long ride to Kamat's on Kolar Road.

Overall, the 9th International JAWA-CZ YEZDI DAY celebration was a grand success yet again. Wishing the team all the best in all endeavors.

Don't Judge!

See that boy doing his homework in homeroom? … He couldn't do it last night because he was too busy talking his best friend out of suicide. See that girl, with her face caked in make up? … She's bullied, she needs to feel beautiful. See him, the one who wears long sleeves everyday? … He covers his arms to hide the scars. See her, with the cheap, hand-me-down clothes? … Her family can't afford food for half the month, let alone get brand names. See the girl who laughs and smiles at every little thing? … She cries herself to sleep every night. Wonder why she never lets her friends over her house? … Because she's afraid they'll see her dad passed out drunk on the floor, as always. See how that girl cringes at rape jokes? … She was raped. See the boy who everyone goes to for advice? … He wishes someone would do the same for him. See the girl who never brings a lunch? … She's disgusted by her body. See her, with the little waist? … She goes to the bathroom and forces herself to throw up so that she can keep her waist that way. See the boy over there, see the dark circles under his eyes? … He has insomnia, he fears what he'll see in his dreams. See that girl daydreaming over there? … She has schizophrenia. See the boy biting his nails? … He has cancer and he's wondering how much time he has left. See your best friend? … She's addicted to drugs, but she can't tell you because you wont understand. See that boy reading all about 9/11? … His parents died on that day. See her, with her phone on her at all times? … She's waiting for a call saying her sister was found after a kidnapping 4 years ago. Don't judge.

Social Drinking!?!?

Ok! So now it is Social Drinking. eh? What all fancy names can one coin for their ailments / weaknesses? With campaigns and marathons raising their heads focusing on a healthy living, I wonder where all these fancy lifestyle ideas come from. If you are alcoholic and you can't sustain yourself without a drink or two, go do it. But then, Why name it fancy? Have you ever wondered how much is too much drinking? Social drinking is an accepted part of one's life because he/she doesn't come back home drooling. How far can you justify this one to yourself?

Globalisation has brought with it not just increasing prosperity, but a different drinking culture. Basically, One tends to get used to such "fad & fashion" lifestyle just because he/she feels left out if they are not going to catch up with the trend and he/she cannot get through painful situations or feelings without alcohol. With an uninvited change in the trend and lifestyle, it's hard to know when the thin line to a healthy lifestyle and alcoholic addiction is crossed.

If you've ever wondered about your own drinking, look at yourself honestly. Ask yourself why, how often, and in what situations you drink. Think about the effects of your drinking on other people: your spouse, children, co-workers, friends. Look at whether you drink more or less than others. Consider whether you've ever driven under the influence of alcohol and justify to yourself just once that should you be really drinking?

Alcohol affects your brain, body, Self-Control. Alcohol leads to poor judgment and slows your reflexes down. You will then be gifted with a distorted vision, several memory lapses, and even blackouts. Alcohol mixes up directly into your bloodstream and can increase your risk for a variety of life-threatening diseases, including cancer. (I know a person beloved to me who met his death due to this). Alcohol depresses your central nervous system and impairs your judgment.

Alcohol can hurt you – even if you’re not the one drinking.

Alcohol can kill you.

There’s no 13th Zodiac sign, and your Zodiac sign has not changed!

There’s no 13th Zodiac sign, and your Zodiac sign has not changed!

A quote falsely attributed to the Minnesota Planetarium Society suggests that there is a 13th Zodiac sign, “Ophiuchus” that appears between Scorpio and Sagittarius that would result in bumping everyone’s Zodiac signs over by a month.

What actually happened is that the Minneapolis Star Tribune a interviewed member of the society’s board, who merely pointed out that our Zodiac system is technically wrong. The Zodiac symbols are all named after constellations that can be seen from earth. However, over thousands of years, the Earth has shifted on its axis. This means that the year represented by a particular Zodiac sign is no longer the best time to see the corresponding constellation. Thus “"When [astrologers] say that the sun is in Pisces, it's really not in Pisces,"

This has actually been the case for a long time, but there’s been no push to correct the Zodiac calendar to match up with astronomical reality.

Ophiuchus is not a New Zodiac!!

Ohpiuchus is NOT a new sign. It's been around for ages. There has been a lot of dispute over the years about whether the 12 sign zodiac or the 13 sign zodiac is more accurate, and there are people who never stopped using the 13 sign zodiac because it was the original one.

This is NOT a new zodiac, it's the old one. However, here is an article which talks about it being a zodiac!

Phew!!!! People!!!!

Ophiuchus

According to astrologial principles, the Sun travels from the constellation Scorpius and goes directly into the sign of Sagittarius, but due to the constant motion of the cosmos, the Sun enters, for a few days of the year, the star constellation 'Ophiuchus' before entering Sagittarius from Scorpius, thus creating astrologically the birth of a thirteenth sign of the Zodiac, which is named as Ophiuchus the Serpent Holder.
The constellation of Ophiuchus is the only sign of the Zodiac which is linked to a real man. This man lived in ancient Egypt around the 27th century BC, and his name was Imhotep. The attributes of Imhotep can also be found in the Biblical Hebrew man Joseph, son of Jacob.. Imhotep is credited with many accomplishments including the knowledge and use of medicine. It is said of Imhotep that he brought the art of healing to mankind. The symbol of a serpent, which is still widely used today to represent the medical profession, was used to represent Imhotep. Imhotep was also known as 'Aesclepius' to the ancient Greeks

Ophiuchus in the Planetary Zodiac:

The planet Pluto was found in Ophiuchus until the end of 2003, after which it passed into Serpens Cauda, the Serpent's Tail. The Centaur object, the minor planetoid Chiron, was visible against the stars of Ophiuchus until November 2001, after which it passed over the border into Sagittarius. Venus and Mercury can be found in Ophiuchus for a time each year.

How much more disturbing can this get?

The Doctors out there with their own clinics/hospitals are all into serious business! These people cannot afford to lose one cocktail "DOCTOR'S MEETING!!" Be it an emergency or a regular case. They just want their presence in the meet.

And What do they talk in meetings!!?? About the implementation of developed medical sciences in their daily practice & the indulgence one can put in his career!!????

C'mon, When these people don't have a heart to understand the importance, they don't deserve to be there on their seats with that black tube hanging around their necks.

Yesterday, a mother took her child to a doctor for a simple medicine to stop loose motions & this doctor who sat in his car to attend a meeting didn't even bother to atleast feel the pulse. Instead he kept on moving slowly telling that he has an emergency doctors meet which he has to attend & he cannot attend the patient!!! How disturbing is that!!

Pains are best felt when they happen on one self

Fatigue -That killed me internally

Out of the blue thin air comes out a voice calling my name very faintly. I struggled to get a hint to recognize it. It sounded very familiar but was unable to give it a name and exactly at that moment came another sound. I shook my head to stir up the un-mixed contents in my head and to recharge my bran cells to recognize it was a faint voice calling out to me trying to convey something very important and very confidential.

The voices in my head were trying to communicate to me with some unusual ecstasy. I finally started to get the string and I found that all the voices were gathering together to make it one. I could feel the chill run down my spine. It was kind of a trance to me that all of a sudden, from nowhere, I heard these voices. The intriguing dilemma of the voices in my head and the voices I presumed to be coming from a distance had me bewildered for a while.

Though I was a man made of substance, I had this fear factor that was carved into my head in my childhood. When I was really struggling to get an order within my head, I got yet another message that was trying to make contact with my brain cells. It is at this point in time that I thought to myself “Who am I? I know I'm not *this*, so why am I unable to dig under my feelings and find who is behind those voices. I wanted an identity of those miscreants in my head, The head belonged to me. Nobody else has or had the rights to ponder inside of me. I started to feel sick. I started to feel an innocent sadness growing up inside me. It is the little voice inside of me which stayed silent for a long time. It's the feelings that I shoved into the cold silence of shame and self hatred. No feelings - no hurt. No life.- Nothing.

Deliberately, out came the final tone which was loud and clear & I recognized it! Yes, finally I recognized the voice. This husky mellow voice whispered in my ear again. “wake up!! wake up!! It’s right time that you did something. wake up!! wake up!! wake up!!” It was ME from the inside. I was talking to me from the insides.
